Abstract | Since 1978, Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) measurements from different space missions with absolute radiometers are available. The TSI measurements accuracy and stability is crucial for reconstruction at different timescales and scientific applications. The development of an absolute radiometer is currently been done at INPE. The design of the radiometer is based on the comparison of the heating effect by optical radiation and electrical heating. These measurements rely on active cavity radiometers, which use black Ni-P interior surfaces to absorb incident sunlight. We obtained black Ni-P by electroless deposition for application in the interior of the silver electrodeposited cavities. We used bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) data to describe the surface reflectance properties of the Ni-P film. The BRDF data were used in the geometry study of the absorber cavity in a ray tracing software. These measures allowed cavities geometries optimization considering the characteristics of the black Ni-P produced at INPE. The region of the cavity heated by solar radiation were determined to place a wire-wound nearly the same region. We intend to use this cavity in a bench prototype radiometer under development. The current status of the study and obtained results are presented in detail. |
